Taxonomy
Xancus buccina was named by Olsson and Richards (1961) [Upper Oligocene; South America]. Its type locality is C47B Borchina, Guajira Peninsula, Columbia, which is in an Oligocene marine horizon in Colombia.

It was recombined as Turbinella buccina by Hendy et al. (2008).
