Chesasyrinx was named by Petuch (1988) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-u T Mi-m Sepkoski's reference number: 1039]. Its type is Pleurotoma rotifera.

It was assigned to Cochlespirinae by Petuch (1988); and to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
