Venus paphia was named by Linnaeus (1767) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Chione (Lirophora) paphia by Woodring et al. (1924); it was recombined as Lirophora (Lirophora) paphia by Hendy et al. (2008).
