Voluta jaspidea was named by Gmelin (1791) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Jaspidella.
It was recombined as Olivella jaspidea by Woodring et al. (1924); it was recombined as Jaspidella jaspidea by Olsson (1956), Drez (1981) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
