Trochus caelatus was named by Gmelin (1791) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Astralium caelatum by Olsson (1922); it was recombined as Astraea caelata by Woodring et al. (1924); it was recombined as Lithopoma caelatum by Landau et al. (2016).
