Taxonomy
Trochus tuber was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Lithopoma.

It was recombined as Astraea (Lithopoma) tuber by Weisbord (1964); it was recombined as Lithopoma tuber by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010) and Landau et al. (2016).
