Levifusus angelicus was named by Cooke (1919) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is USNM 166957, a partial shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM 3652, 5312, which is in a Ypresian/Bartonian coastal tar in Cuba.
