Cypraea anguillana was named by Cooke (1919) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is USNM 166963, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 6893. Crocus Bay, which is in a Burdigalian/Serravallian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/limestone in the Anguilla Formation of Anguilla.
It was recombined as Macrocypraea anguillana by Perrilliat et al. (2003).
