Taxonomy
Fissurella cayenensis was named by Lamarck (1822). It is extant.

It was recombined as Fissuridea cayenensis by Maury (1922); it was recombined as Diodora cayenensis by Weisbord (1962), Perrilliat (1972) and Rosenberg (2005).

Synonyms
  • Fissurella alternata was named by Say (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

    It was recombined as Fissuridea alternata by Vaughn (1919); it was recombined as Diodora alternata by Mansfield (1939); it was synonymized subjectively with Diodora cayenensis by Weisbord (1962) and Hendy et al. (2008).
