Taxonomy
Australosyodon nyaphuli was named by Rubidge (1994). Its type specimen is NMQR 3152, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tuinkraal, which is in a Wordian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Australosyodon.
