Taxonomy

Natica eminula was named by Conrad (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 15172, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Lunatia eminula by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Euspira eminula by Glibert (1965); it was recombined as Polinices eminulus by Palmer (1937), Harris and Palmer (1947), Palmer and Brann (1966) and CoBabe and Allmon (1994).

Synonyms

Natica parva was named by Lea (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 5518, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Polynices (Lunatia) parva by Dall (1892); it was recombined as Natica (Lunatia) parva by Cossmann (1925); it was synonymized subjectively with Polinices eminulus by Palmer and Brann (1966).
