Taxonomy
Arca scalarina was named by Heilprin (1887) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Pleistocene; Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Scapharca (Cunearca) scalarina by Dall (1898) and Dall (1898); it was recombined as Anadara (Cunearca) scalarina by Olsson and Harbison (1953) and DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Cunearca scalarina by Ward (1992).
