Taxonomy
Ostrea (Crassostrea) virginica labellensis was named by Olsson and Harbison (1953) [DISTRIBUTION: Plio-Pleistocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 18949, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Crassostrea virginica labellensis by Hendy et al. (2008).
