Taxonomy
Byssoarca lima was named by Conrad (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 30642, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Navicula lima by Conrad (1854); it was recombined as Cucullaearca lima by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Arca lima by Heilprin (1881); it was recombined as Barbatia (Cucullaearca) lima by Dockery (1982).
