Taxonomy
Pleurotoma violacea was named by Mighels and Adams (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Northern Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Pleurotoma (Bela) violacea by Mörch (1869); it was recombined as Curtitoma violacea by Bogdanov (1990) and Hendy et al. (2008).
