Timothynus turgida

Taxonomy
Loripes turgida was named by Conrad (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 30680, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.

It was recombined as Sphaerella turgida by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Diplodonta turgida by Dall (1900); it was recombined as Timothynus turgida by Harris and Palmer (1946) and Dockery (1982).
