Taxonomy
Pleuromeris aldrichi was named by Harris (1919). Its type specimen is USNM 646501, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cardita aldrichi by Casey (1903); it was recombined as Venericardia (Pleuromeris) aldrichi by Palmer and Brann (1965); it was recombined as Carditella aldrichi by Dockery (1982) and Dockery (1982).
