Taxonomy
Crassatella tumidula was named by Whitfield (1865) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is CNHM UC-24476, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Crassatellites tumidulus by Gardner (1945).
