Exallerix manahan was named by Lopatin and Zazhigin (2003). Its type specimen is PIN 475/3029, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tatal Gol, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Hsanda Gol Formation of Mongolia.
