Crassatella speciosa was named by Adams (1854) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Eucrassatella (Eucrassatella) speciosa by Woodring (1982).

    It was recombined as Crassatellites (Scambula) gibbesii by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Crassatellites (Crassatellites) gibbesii by Mansfield (1932); it was recombined as Eucrassatella gibbesii by DuBar (1958); it was synonymized subjectively with Eucrassatella (Eucrassatella) speciosa by Woodring (1982).
