Taxonomy
Geotrypus copernici was named by Skoczen (1980) [Skoczen included the species into Geotrypus with a question mark. It is indeed not referable to the genus (Storch & Qiu, 1983)]. Its type specimen is ISEZ PAN MF/1008/17, a mandible (dext. with p4-m2), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Kadzielnia, which is in a MN 17 cave horizon in Poland.
