Miopleiona was named by Dall (1907) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u T Mi-m Sepkoski's reference number: 854,909]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Psephaea (Miopleiona) by Addicott (1970); it was synonymized subjectively with Fulgoraria (Psephaea) by Mount (1976); it was reranked as Musashia (Miopleiona) by Moore (1984); it was reranked as Fulgoraria (Miopleiona) by Oleinik and Marincovich (2003).

It was assigned to Volutidae by Durham (1944); to Psephaea by Addicott (1970); to Musashia by Moore (1984); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fulgoraria by Oleinik and Marincovich (2003).
