Musashia was named by Hayashi (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l T Mi-m Sepkoski's reference number: 96,555]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Fulgoraria (Musashia) by Squires and Goedert (1994) and Oleinik and Marincovich (2003).

It was assigned to Volutidae by Moore (1984); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fulgoraria by Squires and Goedert (1994) and Oleinik and Marincovich (2003).
