Cardium vicksburgense was named by Conrad (1848) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Oligocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is USNM 340467, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Cardium (Cerastoderma) vicksburgense by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Dinocardium vicksburgense by Dockery (1982).
