Taxonomy
Rhizophyllum calceoloides was named by Talent (1963) [Rhizophyllum interpunctatum de Koninck, Etheridge 1899 p. 32 pl. A f. 5, 13; Rhizophyllum interpunctatum de Koninck, Chapman 1914 p. 222.]. Its type specimen is 58314 (section) and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Loc. 22. Warrigal Bend, Mitchell River National Park, which is in a Pragian marine siltstone/claystone in the Tabberabbera Formation of Australia.
