Buchanathyris westoni was named by Talent (1956) [Spirifer aff. crispus (Hisinger) Chapman 1929 p. 103 Ctenodonta cf. portlocki Chapman Chapman 1929 p. 103 Pentamerus aff. lens (Sowerby) Chapman 1929 p. 103]. It is not a trace fossil.
