Taxonomy
Composita ovata was named by Mather (1915) [includes Mather's version of Composita wasatchensis White 1874. p. 200 pl. 14 f. 7-10b]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Composita subtilita ovata by Burk (1954).
