Andrias matthewi

Taxonomy
Plicagnathus matthewi was named by Cook (1917). Its type specimen is AMNH 81571, a mandible (mesial fragment of a left dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mesoceras Quarry, which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Snake Creek Formation of Nebraska.

It was recombined as Cryptobranchus matthewi by Naylor (1981); it was recombined as Andrias matthewi by Estes and Tihen (1964), Meszoely (1966) and Estes (1981).
