Stephanozyga subnodosa
Taxonomy
Pseudozygopleura (Stephanozyga) subnodosa was named by Knight (1930) [Pseudozygopleura (Stephanozyga) subnodosa Knight 1930]. Its type specimen is YPM 12990, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Locality 42. Steep embankment along Pershing Ave. at Cleveland Walk., which is in a Moscovian carbonate limestone in the Fort Scott Formation of Missouri.
It was recombined as Palaeostylus (Stephanozyga) subnodosa by Hoare (1961); it was recombined as Stephanozyga subnodosa by Wagner (2023).

R. L. Batten 1995 | Whorl profile convexo-concavo- convex. Area adjacent to suture convex with arcuate, widely spaced transverse lirae. Midwhorl region concave and ornamented by reinforced growth lines. Lower third of whorl strongly convex with well-developed transverse costae on periphery which are extensions of subsutural lirae. Costae become weak and disappear on flatly rounded base. Base has reinforced growth lines for ornamentation. Narrowly phaneromphalus. |
