Taxonomy
Taricha (Palaeotaricha) miocenica was named by Tihen (1974). Its type specimen is MPUM 1479, a set of vertebrae (essentially intact dorsal vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Middle Cabbage Patch Beds, which is in an Arikareean pond horizon in the Renova Formation of Montana.
