Paranourosorex gigas was named by Rzebik-Kowalska (1975). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Podlesice, which is in a MN 14 cave breccia in Poland.

G. Storch and V.S. Zazhigin 1996Largest species of the genus. p4 markedly bulbous, single-cusped, its posterolingual basin strongly reduced. Hypolophid of m1 fused with entoconid, enctonid crest not separated from the psoterior face of the metaconidd by a distinct notch, and paracristid very strong and high. m3 strongly reduced, with minute talonid. Lower incisor apically hooked, its cutting edge and posterior crown segment of subequal length. M1 with weak posterior emargination. P3 and M1 with expanded hypoconal flange. Dentition rather bulbous. Coronoid spicule long, prominent, and slanting; external temporal fossa distinct and well-excavated. Internal temporal fossa very small, limula and internal temporal fossa above limula absent. Pterygoid spicule prominent, external pterygoid fossa large, and lower articular facet of the condyle situated far anteriorly. Mental foramen opens into large depression on the horizontal ramus.
