Taxonomy
Trochus alabamensis was named by Aldrich (1886). It is not extant. It is the type species of Toulminella.

It was recombined as Solariella alabamensis by Toulmin (1977); it was recombined as Toulminella alabamensis by Bieler and Dockery (2007).
