It was synonymized subjectively with Trochophyllum by Hill (1956); it was reranked as Trochophyllum (Permia) by Easton et al. (1958).

Easton et al. 1958Trochophyllum with a nontabulate axial tube, two orders of septa, the cardinal fossula weakly or strongly developed and lying on the convex side of the coral when the coral is curved, outer tabulae in the loculi, septal grooves usually present, and the axial tube thickened with stereoplasm.
