Taxonomy
Corax pristodontus was named by Agassiz (1843) [also attributed to Morton under the combination Galeus pristodontus].

It was recombined as Squalicorax pristodontus by Whitley (1939), Miller (1967), Applegate (1970), Herman (1975), Case (1979) and Siverson (1997).
