Taxonomy
Cerithium fragile was named by Deshayes (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Paris Basin.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Tenuicerithium.

It was recombined as Tenuicerithium fragile by Cossmann (1896) and Hoerle (1972).
