Potamides (Cerithidea) progoensis was named by Martin (1916) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene-Late Miocene; Indo-Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Potamides progoensis by Martin (1919); it was recombined as Cerithium (Ptychocerithium) progoensis by Beets (1941) and Beets (1981); it was recombined as Cerithidea progoensis by Shuto (1977); it was recombined as Cerithium (Thericium) progoensis by Shuto (1978); it was recombined as Ptychocerithium progoensis by Skwarko (1994); it was recombined as Cerithium progoensis by Harzhauser (2007).
