Cypraea pustulata was named by Solander (1786) [DISTRIBUTION: Holocene; Mexico.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Trivia pustulata by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Cypropterina pustulata by Schilder (1932); it was recombined as Pustularia pustulata by Ingram (1947); it was recombined as Jenneria pustulata by Jousseaume (1884) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
