Taxonomy
Pyrula lainei was named by Basterot (1825) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene-Early Miocene; Oman, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Melongena (Myristica) lainei by Sacco (1904); it was recombined as Melongena (Pyrula) lainei by Stchepinsky (1939); it was recombined as Galeodea lainei by Zbyszewski (1954); it was recombined as Melongena lainei by Vredenburg (1925), Anic (1952), Harzhauser and Mandic (2001), Harzhauser (2004) and Harzhauser (2007).
