Taxonomy
Spathites was named by Kummel and Decker (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-l]. Its type is Pseudotissotia coahuilaensis.
It was assigned to Acanthoceratidae by Kennedy and Cobban (1988); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mammitinae by Cobban (1988), Summesberger (1992), Kennedy (1994), Wright et al. (1996), Cooper (1998), Barroso-Barcenilla (2004), Barroso-Barcenilla (2007), Kennedy and Gale (2016) and Benzaggagh et al. (2017).

Body chamber with blunt ribs or smooth. Suture simple with more or less bifid saddles. |
