Glyphostoma was named by Gabb (1872) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Mangilia (Glyphostoma) by Martin (1904); it was reranked as Pleurotoma (Glyphostoma) by Toula (1911); it was reranked as Clathurella (Glyphostoma) by Berry (1942).
