Crassatella rostrata was named by Lamarck (1805) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene-Recent; Indian Ocean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mactra rostrata by Valenciennes (1824); it was recombined as Crassatellites rostratus by Dall (1903); it was recombined as Eucrassatella rostrata by Mukerjee (1939).
