Diodora tenebrosa

Taxonomy
Fissurella tenebrosa was named by Conrad (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 30504, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Fissuridea tenebrosa by Pilsbry and Johnson (1892); it was recombined as Diodora tenebrosa by Palmer (1937), Harris and Palmer (1947), Palmer and Brann (1966) and CoBabe and Allmon (1994).

Synonyms
  • Fissurella claibornensis was named by Lea (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 5450, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Diodora tenebrosa by Palmer and Brann (1966).
