Lucina mazatlanica was named by Carpenter (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Mexico.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Phacoides (Here) mazatlanicus by Dall (1901); it was recombined as Lucina (Parvilucina) mazatlanicus by Hertlein and Strong (1946) and Perrilliat (1992); it was recombined as Parvilucina mazatlanica by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
