Hadriania was named by Bucquoy et al. (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1272]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Murex (Hadriania) by Sacco (1904); it was reranked as Ocenebra (Hadriania) by Stojaspal (1978).

It was assigned to Murex by Sacco (1904); to Ocenebra by Stojaspal (1978); to Drupinae by Islamoglu and Taner (2002); to Neogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Muricidae by Wienrich (2001), Harzhauser (2002) and Landau et al. (2007).
