Taxonomy
Patella chinensis was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Recent; Europe, Indian Ocean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Calyptraea chinensis by Lamarck (1799), Vredenburg (1928), Mukerjee (1939), Woodring (1957), Harzhauser and Mandic (2001), Harzhauser et al. (2009) and Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
