Ranella tuberculata was named by Risso (1826) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Recent; Indian Ocean.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Gyrineum tuberculatum by Mukerjee (1939); it was corrected as Ranella tubercularis by Vredenburg (1921), Vredenburg (1925) and Harzhauser et al. (2009).
