Triton javanus was named by Martin (1879) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; India, Indonesia.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was corrected as Triton javanum by Martin (1883); it was recombined as Hindsia javana by Martin (1906); it was recombined as Nassaria javana by Mukerjee (1939).
