Oliva flammulata was named by Lamarck (1822) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Africa, Mediterranean, Europe.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Oliva (Strephona).

It was recombined as Oliva (Strephona) flammulata by Mörch (1852).
