Taxonomy
Tellina zapotalensis was named by Spieker (1922) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Mexico, Peru.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Macoma (Psammacoma) zapotalensis by Olsson (1932); it was recombined as Psammacoma zapotalensis by Perrilliat (1992).
