Terebra protoduplicatum was named by Noetling (1901) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; India.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Terebra (Duplicaria) protoduplicatum by Vredenburg (1921) and Mukerjee (1939).
